A change in the law means as of 1 September 2016, a licence will be needed to download or watch BBC programmes on demand, including catch up TV, on BBC iPlayer. Thanks for the replies but perhaps I didn't stress enough that I was not complaining about Virgin's Catch Up TV but just the BBC iPlayer. Every other catch-up service (ITV Hub, Channel 4, even Fox) goes straight to the channel listings. The iPlayer takes at least a minute just to get the BBC's opening page.
